Destiny beta on Xbox One will not be running at 1080p, will reach 1080p by launch

Destiny_11

Bungie has confirmed just now in the IGN live stream that the Destiny beta on Xbox One will not be running at 1080p. The game itself at launch will reach 1080p. Bungie’s Community Manager said that ‘there’s always time for improvement.’

Bungie is aiming to make the game run at 1080p on both PS4 and Xbox One, and it seems that the beta will be at 1080p on PS4 only. Bungie says they want to make sure all platforms can reach 1080 by launch. Bungie did say at E3 that the game will be running at 1080p at 30FPS on both PS4 and Xbox One at launch.

IGN has stated that next week, before the Xbox beta starts, they will be debuting the first ever Xbox One footage of the game. The Xbox One footage of the game will be running at 1080p, but the beta will not be running at the footage quality.

Here, let me help: “This idiotic console war smh”

  • Ben

I think it’s simply because the beta build was finalized a few months ago, and MS said the new Dev kits that allow games like Destiny to finally hit 1080p didn’t ship until June. So I’m not worried, should be fine for launch.

    • Da GeeZ

Yep. That’s all that’s happened. But you’ll get the moronic herd of default sony trolls running around saying the ps4 version is magically better. When all the ps4 has is a minuscule amount of exclusive content that no one is gonna want after 1 week of leveling up on the XBox Won.

      • Not_true

The PS4 version of Destiny will have higher average framerate (less drops from 30), possibly less tearing depending on v-sync settings, and better visual effects (AA, AO, shadows, etc.), or its stronger hardware isn’t being pushed.

Sorry if reality upsets you and causes you to call names.

        • Da GeeZ

You said that comment above mate… copy pasting ain’t that cool.

          • mikeslemonadeFromN4G

haha sucks being on the bottom doesn’t it?? So close to 100% of multiplats run overall better on PS4 and somehow you don’t think Destiny will succumb the same way on the X1??

Y’all in the X1 camp are just plain dumb. I cannot help you if you lack comprehension skills.

I’m not saying it’s anything more than a marginal difference but I can say the PS4 is the best place to play Destiny. And the lack of 1080p on the beta shows they are having a hard time optimizing on the X1, and moreover prooves my point.

Yes it’s bragging rights more than anything but deal with it. How about not read the comment section and get mad about it??

          • Dirkster_Dude

I don’t own either platform and don’t care. All it tells me is the PS4 is probably the lead platform and 1080p is ready in time for the beta not necessarily that they are having trouble with 1080p on the XB1 which is a major assumption on your part.

          • http://thenewtech.tv/ James Denham

Though it is an assumption, the XBOX One has a pretty consistent record with lower resolution.

Dumb people will play an mmofps with the same intermittent reward system as world of warcraft and will be unable to understand why they’ve acquired an addiction problem.

            That will be you.

Smart people won’t even play Destiny.

PS4′s hardware is more powerful, thus it will run Destiny at higher average framerate and visual effects if its hardware is being pushed.

          • N2K12

Going to laugh when it comes out. it’s the same on both consoles. it will stop the bitch war. and btw morons, BOTH systems have the SAME gpu.

Wrong and wrong. It’s going to be a very long gen of delusion, denial, and spinning for you.

Anyone with technical knowledge knew PS4′s game graphics performance would be better for the entire generation as soon as the specs were official. That was well over a year ago. Apparently it’s taking some people a LONG time to come to terms with reality.

          • N2K12

troll. how am i in denial retard? i am happy with my xbox one, as i know it is superior in every way. Nothing you can say will change that fact. so keep on trolling retard, i need some good amusement when i am bored.

Another dumb, delusional fanboy responding to facts and reality by flinging feces.

Your opinion isn’t a fact, deranged imbecile.

Factual PS4 Hardware Advantages: +6 CUs, +540 GFlops (40% greater) or more, +16 ROPs, +6 ACEs/CQs, better GPGPU support (volatile bit and onion+ gpu cache bypass bus), better performing CPU, faster unified memory, and less OS overhead.

You really should learn a thing or two about net results.

Your ignorance here leads you to making statements that have margins of error you seem blissfully unaware of.

          • Not_true

No, it’s true. It covers all possible scenarios. Either PS4 will have a visual advantage, or it’s stronger hardware isn’t being taken advantage of. Either or.

I am constantly right about hardware facts, I am not ignorant. You are constantly wrong and lying.

          • Ricoh123

Fact 1 – the xbox has a more powerful cpu than the ps4

            Fact 2 – the ps4 has reportedly got a 1.8 teraflop gpu, the xb1 1.3 teraflop.

Fact 3 – the xb1 supports hardware texture streaming by the cpu, the ps4 does not.

Fact 4 – a 1.3 teraflop gpu that is designed to only process polygons, will yield greater net results than a 1.8 teraflop gpu that has to render polygons, textures, and everything else.

Fact 5 – by way of example, a 1.0 litre hatchback goes faster than a 12.0 litre double decker bus.

Fact 6 – you have no idea what it means to look at gross power and calculate net results.

Fact 7 – you are retarded.

          • Not_true

I am constantly right about hardware facts. You are constantly wrong and clueless.

Factual PS4 Hardware Advantages: +6 CUs, +540 GFlops (40% greater) or more, +16 ROPs, +6 ACEs/CQs, better GPGPU support (volatile bit and onion+ gpu cache bypass bus), better performing CPU, faster unified memory, and less OS overhead.

If they’re both running at the same resolution the Xbox version will have lower framerate, more screen tear, and/or less visual effects, or the PS4 hardware isn’t being pushed. Any game running on Xbox One can be run with better framerate/resolution/visual effects on PS4.

Anyone with technical knowledge knew PS4′s game graphics performance would be better for the entire generation as soon as the specs were official. That was well over a year ago. Apparently it’s taking some people a LONG time to come to terms with reality.

Every console or gaming device has a power budget that can be put towards resolution, framerate, or visual effects. PS4 has a higher total budget than Xbox, and good PCs have an even higher budget.

Forza 5 or Horizon 2 would run better on PS4, and Driveclub would run worse on Xbox. Quantum Break would run better on PS4, and The Order would run worse on Xbox.

Both Sony and MS have world class coders that will extract every bit of performance out of their consoles with their drivers/APIs/SDKs. The difference is PS4 simply has more powerful hardware to work with, so it will always stay ahead in graphics performance.

“PS4 is off the shelf” is a myth, PS4′s SoC has several important customizations especially to GPGPU compute.

PS3 was more powerful than 360, but a nightmare to code for. PS4 is both more powerful AND easier to code for. It’s a win/win for PS4.

GDDR5 is superior to DDR3+on-die ESRAM in pretty much every way in terms of actual games performance.

Even if Xbox had a far more powerful CPU and 10000GB of 10000 GB/s memory, it’s ability to render graphics is STILL limited by the weaker GPU. There’s no getting around the weaker GPU, there’s no free lunch.

DDR3+ESRAM is still a size and bandwidth bottleneck and difficult to code for. The DMA registers help transfer data between DDR3 and ESRAM, they aren’t super special sauce.

XB1 has memory size and bandwidth bottlenecks, weaker GPU and GPGPU, only 16 ROPs, and OS virtualization overhead that degrades gaming performance. Take your pick.

DDR3+ESRAM is more complex and expensive yet resulted in a less powerful system than the PS4. It’s a lose-lose from a design perspective. It was a poor design decision for gaming graphics performance.

Exclusively console 1080p 60 FPS games on PS4: MGS V, CoD Ghosts, FFXIV, Tomb Raider, MLB The Show 14, Resogun, Trials Fusion, Diablo 3, Project Cars, Metro Redux, more.

If a game runs 50+ FPS average it’s generally called “60 FPS”.

Don’t forget PS4′s +16 ROPs and better GPGPU support with 6 more ACEs, volatile bit flag, onion+ bus, fully unified GDDR5 memory instead of split ESRAM/DDR3, etc.

PS4′s large GPGPU advantage will widen as devs take advantage of it. It’s not just 2 to 8 ACEs (asynchronous compute engines), but the volatile bit flag, unified memory, and onion+ GPU to RAM cache bypass bus. Not only does PS4 have more CUs to do compute on, but it can do compute work more efficiently with less impact on rendering.

Examples of GPGPU include Resogun’s voxels, Infamous’ particle system, The Order’s soft body, cloth, and object destruction physics, and MGS’s simulated weather. To port those to Xbox devs will need to reserve already limited CUs for compute or remove those features entirely.

Digital Foundry proves that PS4 multiplat games consistently run at higher res, framerate, and/or visual quality.

PS4 version of Watch Dogs has higher shadow quality, higher resolution, less screen tearing, higher framerate, better depth of field, and far better ambient occlusion over Xbox.

PS4 version of Wolfenstein has higher average resolution and higher shadow quality over Xbox. The Xbox version lowers resolution down to 960×1080 to maintain 60 fps. The Xbox version of wolfenstein is 1080p if you’re staring at a wall or empty room. Otherwise it’s lower during actual gameplay.

PS4 version of Thief has higher res, framerate, and mostly higher visual effects. It’s superior in almost every way aside from trilinear filtering being traded off for parallax occlusion mapping over Xbox.

PS4 version of Trials Fusion has higher resolution and framerate over Xbox. Texture data is identical with texture streaming times dependent on hard drive speed.

PS4 version of BF4 has higher resolution, higher average framerate, and better effects over Xbox.

Some use cherry picked screenshots from where a streamed texture was 0.01 seconds from fully loading and try to use it as false proof PS4 has worse textures. This is wrong and deceptive. Hard drive speed is the main issue in texture streaming load times. Installing a SSD in PS4 decreases texture streaming times dramatically. The texture data on most multiplats is identical.

Texture data is identical between console versions. Sometimes texture streaming issues crop up in one or the other version, or even on PC. That’s generally dependent on hard drive speed. If you run a game off an SSD texture streaming issues are much less.

Texture streaming issues can also happen if you start a game before it’s fully installed to the hard drive, or if you load from a save file and some textures haven’t been loaded from the drive into RAM yet.

Texture streaming is a complex issue with multiple possible causes including drive speed, whether the footage is from a recently loaded save file where the textures haven’t been streamed into RAM yet, or whether the game hasn’t been fully installed to the HD yet.

“Sharper colors” is just the crushed blacks bug on the Xbox that can be replicated by adjusting the contrast or sharpness on your display. Oversharpening and crushed blacks are a bad thing for visual quality.

Xbox One AAA multiplats (Watch Dogs, Witcher 3, CoD: Advanced Warfare) will run 720-900p for the lifetime of the system.

PS4 could run Ryse, Forza, Dead Rising 3, or any Xbox exclusive at higher res/framerate/effects, as it has more powerful hardware.

Infamous is technically superior to Ryse in every way. 1080p, 35 fps average (according to DF), open world, next gen visual effects, cutscenes are mostly realtime, etc. Almost all of Ryse’s cutscenes are pre-rendered movies.

The Order, Uncharted 4, and pretty much any Naughty Dog game will easily trump Ryse’s visuals while running at a higher resolution and framerate. Driveclub at E3 2014 was widely called the best looking console racing game.

Ryse is a 900p, 25 fps average, QTE corridor brawler with copypasted barbarian enemies and CG movie cutscenes in comparison.

PS4 has plenty of room for optimization in terms of GPGPU, hUMA-like features, and unified memory.

All I see is babble from a retard.

Ddr3 has lower latency than gddr5.

Ddr3 is faster at texture streaming than gddr5.

Xbox games have yet to be designed to yield the greater results of texture streaming.

You are constantly arguing that a 12.0 litre double decker bus will always go faster than a 1 litre hatchback.

The more words you spew now, the more you’ll have to eat in 2015 when games are tuned for the more efficient xb1 hardware.

Did you learn nothing from the ps3 situation?

LOL! Bu bu bu just wait for the directx 12 cloud low latency ESRAM tiled resources move engine offloading special sauce!!1 Xbox is sekritly more powerful than PS4!!1

PS3 was slightly more powerful than 360 but very hard to code for. PS4 is both much more powerful AND easier to code for. There will be no parity.

PS4 hardware is more powerful for games performance. It’s going to be a very long gen of delusion, denial, and crow eating for you.

Moving the goalposts from hardware to games to avoid admitting you were wrong.

PS4 has many great AAA games that gamers love. That’s why it’s 8.5+ million in sales and growing. Sony’s large number of well funded 1st parties will ensure PS4 has a ton of great AAA exclusives, as many or more than PS3.

1st/2nd party studios include Japan Studio, Polyphony Digital, Naughty Dog, SCE Bend, SCE San Diego, SCE Santa Monica, Sucker Punch, Pixel Opus, Evolution Studios, Guerrilla Games, Guerrilla Cambridge, SCE London, Media Molecule, Ready at Dawn, Quantic Dream, etc.

For some reason PS4 keeps selling like hotcakes despite attempts to downplay its library. All 3 consoles have good exclusive games, it’s only fanboys trying to trash one or the other and pretend it has “no gaems lolol”.

Some of the AAA PS3 2013 exclusives: Beyond Two Souls, The Last of Us, Puppeteer, God of War: Ascension
Gran Turismo 6, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (not 1st party), Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus. Expect a similar level of long term PS4 support with tons of 1st party games.

PS4/Sony exclusives Jun-Dec: The Last of Us Remastered, Driveclub, LittleBigPlanet 3, Infamous: First Light, Samurai Warriors 4, Natural Doctrine, Guilty Gear Xrd, Singstar, Resogun DLC, and lots of indies.

PS4 has 36+ AAA games from July to December 2014, or 6 per month. Most of those are multiplatform but there’s no shortage of AAA games for PS4 owners.

PS4/Sony exclusives 2015 (announced): Bloodborne, The Order, Ratchet & Clank Remastered, Uncharted 4, Let It Die, Deep Down, and lots of indies.

PS4 AAA games from July-Dec 2014: The Last of Us Remastered, Driveclub, LittleBigPlanet 3, Infamous: First Light, Samurai Warriors 4, Guilty Gear Xrd Sign, Singstar, Sniper Elite III, Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition, Madden NFL 15, Metro: Redux, Destiny, NHL 15, FIFA 15, Alien: Isolation, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Grand Theft Auto V, NBA 2K15, NBA Live 15, Battlefield: Hardline, Evolve, Just Dance 2015, The Evil Within, Assassin’s Creed Unity, WWE 2K15, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, The Crew, Far Cry 4, Lords of the Fallen, Shadow Warrior, Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate, Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, The Legend of Korra, Project Cars, etc. Plus a truckload of indies.

Well reviewed PS4 games not on XB1: Final Fantasy XIV, Resogun, Transistor, MLB 14, Injustice, Trine 2: Complete Story, TowerFall Ascension, Infamous 2nd Son, Don’t Starve, flower, War Thunder, DC Universe Online, Dead Nation, KZ Shadowfall, Dynasty Warriors 8, MotoGP 14, Yakuza Isshin and other Japanese games, etc.

PS4 has the superior visuals on all console AAA multiplats, more dev support including indies, a large number of first party studios, free to play games and MMOs, and unannounced 1st party games. 3rd party AAA games will be increasingly multiplatform on both consoles.

PS4 is selling on lower price, the best visuals on console multiplats, better PR and global appeal, long term 1st party support, large number of 1st party studios, more total games and dev support including Japanese and indie devs, wider variety of games, and PS+ value.

Don’t worry PS4 will keep selling like hotcakes based on multiplats alone and bundles with Destiny and Watch Dogs. The PS4 version of Watch Dogs outsold the Xbox One version by about 2:1.

When you say “real games” you actually mean… Halo / Gears of War / Crackdown HD remakes, or just slap another number to the end of them.. right? where are your amazing “next gen, innovative, new ip’s? Sunset Overdrive? There is like 2-4 new ip’s coming to Xbox, Sony has Double that, and At least that many more unannounced games being developed by its AAA studios.

Not to mention, any Developer cringes at the thought of being exclusive to the Xbox now.. Underpowered System in comparison, with half the install base of the PS4 and only going to get worse.. You will be seeing less exclusivity to the Xbox as this trend progresses, and eventually the only people who will have exclusive franchises being made for the XB1 will be Microsoft’s Studios… which is like… 3?

          • N2K12

haha my thoughts exactly. I remember the old ram benchmarks i used to do. lower timings brang faster fps and faster load times, than higher frequency. the ps4 is probably higher in “numbers of shit it can do” but that does not always mean better. the ps4 is a limited system in alot of other ways. 500gb hard drive for example. higher latency ram, no dx12 coming, still stuck with opengl. game develepors would go for xbox one, as it’s basically windows. easy to code for.

          • demfax

PS4 does not use OpenGL. You have no clue what you are talking about.

PS4 hardware is more powerful for games performance. It’s going to be a very long gen for you.

          • Eric Blair

System memory (DDR3) benefits from low latency (tight timings) at the expense of bandwidth, GDDR5′s case is the opposite. Timings for GDDR5 would seems unbelieveably slow in relation to DDR3, but the speed of VRAM is blazing fast in comparison with desktop RAM- this has resulted from the relative workloads that a CPU and GPU undertake. Latency isn’t much of an issue with GPU’s since their parallel nature allows them to move to other calculation when latency cycles cause a stall in the current workload/thread. The performance of a graphics card for instance is greatly affected (as a percentage) by altering the internal bandwidth, yet altering the external bandwidth (the PCI-Express bus, say lowering from x16 to x8 or x4 lanes) has a minimal effect. This is because there is a great deal of I/O (textures for examples) that get swapped in and out of VRAM continuously- the nature of a GPU is many parallel computations, whereas a CPU computes in a basically linear way.

          • GotNews4Ya

This is funny, because the PS4 steadily pumps out 1080p on that way worse and underpowered 1.8 gpu when compared to the xbox one’s way more superior 1.3 gpu, so weird. Hmm… Oh not to mention I’m going to listen to the one guy on the internet claiming that the XB1 is the more powerful machine, rather than the developers who all unanimously voted it the most powerful / best / easiest to develop for console.

It’s amazing the lengths people will go to.. throwing out “Fact” on the beginning of each sentence, thinking it will make it absolute truth. :-/

It’s okay man.. you don’t have to go into a blind fury because Microsoft is in 2nd place.. It’s really not that big of a deal. If you get this angry over the fact that Microsoft didn’t make the best console this time around, you are going to have a Stroke by the end of this generation. Every single AAA multi platform game on the PS4 out class’ the Xbox One, whether in frame rate, visually, or both. The eSRAM makes it harder to hit those 1080p marks, meanwhile the PS4 goes over 1080p on some games already (This early on.. is a good sign that later on they will be able to go even higher)

Ya’ll should be used to it.. You got blown out of the water with the PS2, and while you held a strong lead last generation, you didn’t even end up winning last gen’s console war in terms of total worldwide sales. Granted you did lead the majority of the time, but you launched a year earlier, and had so many broken systems (and then blaming the consumer, when they KNEW it was faulty and charging them 150$ to fix it..) it padded their sales initially, and Sony made a grave mistake making it too advanced, and different to master coding on, not to mention the price point. Sony knew that they would fix all these problems next generation, and has been in the business for a long time.

They showed this by proving that they know how to make a powerful machine and make it easy to develop for this generation, all while keeping the price point lower than its competitor.

and how exactly do all these facts help out the XB1 when all is said and done bro? I sold my XB1 back to Best Buy and kept my PS4; MS has let me down way too much!! Now, maybe in the future I’ll get one again, but it’s honestly doubtful. For now, the PS4 is everything that I want/need. The only thing I liked about the XB1 is “snapping apps” and having Skype, but the many benefits of the PS4 and PS+ quickly made me forget about those XB1 perks. :p

          • jazz0852

this shit is really funny you know. yes i bought an x1 and i know Ps4 hardware is better. this is a fact everyone just has to accept. but because the beta doesnt run on 1080p doesnt mean they’re having so much trouble with the game making it so. because now they have the new dev kits since june without kinect so they can use 10% more capacity.

          • McCloudX13

You do realize there is almost 0 difference between 900p & 1080p right? If you screen cap a game and examine it for a minute or two then yes there is a noticeable difference. If you’re playing a game….well it will never be noticed. You’re an elitist and troll. It’s really sad that you can’t just enjoy all gaming platforms and instead have to rant and argue about slight advantage. That advantage is only for the PS4 over the X1 if you compare a PS4 to a mid range PC, well it’s a bad joke. All platforms have unique features to offer. I really hope you don’t get hurt to badly when you fall off that high horse one day. Also do not bother responding. I’ll waste no more words on someone like you.

          • Not_true

It seems most console gamers are ignoring attempts to downplay PS4′s stronger hardware and buying PS4s anyway. Sorry.

Anyone with technical knowledge knew PS4′s game graphics performance would be better for the entire generation as soon as the specs were official. That was well over a year ago. Apparently it’s taking some people a LONG time to come to terms with reality.

          • N2K12

            *yawn*

      • http://thenewtech.tv/ James Denham

You’re just as bad as the “herd of default sony trolls” when you spew your opinions as fact and using terms like “XBox Won”

We’re all gamers here. Can’t we all just get along?

      • cole herman

I just wanna say this has entertained me for a while. this whole argument.

Then, I want to throw my two cents in, minor differences in hardware don’t mean that much. its about how its used not how it “can run”

        For example:
Sure a gtx 780 ti is one of the most powerful gpu’s on the market, but if the game dev’s don’t know how to implement it its going to suffer. Or on the other side of the coin, if Nvida builds a garbage driver for it, its going to suffer.

Now i’m not saying Microsoft or Sony is better, I think Both built impressive systems. I went with Sony because I have always liked them better personally and i am happy with my choice.

I am also not saying Bungie messed up. I think as far as game companies go, Bungie never half asses any thing. They seem to know what they are doing. That being said, I never was a big halo fan, but my god do i love Destiny!

      • Vivek patodia

Actually there’s an agreement between the devs and MS which makes games for both the consoles, that the game has to look the same in both.Cannot look better in the other one.So to know the real differences, one has to play the exclusives.

    • bigshynepo

So “the beta build was finished a few months ago” but PS4 users were only enjoying the Alpha code less than a month ago?

Are you able to confirm the XB1 beta hasn’t received the benefits of the current devkits or are you just speculating?

      • Ben

no, but it was said on the weekly update when the Alpha came out that that build was a few months old, so I’m merely applying that same timeframe to the beta. But we know that MS sent out the Dev kits shortly before E3 time, and that’s also when the tweet was sent by Geoff Keighly that Bungie told him it would enable the XB1 to render Destiny at 1080p. So I’m just drawing conclusions.

        • bigshynepo

I love speculation as long as you got the sources to back it up; which you did!
I hope there is a parity by the time launch gets here, DLC aside, this game is so important to the industry that it should run the same on both current-gen systems.

I wonder if Xbox Live Gold will continue to be required for future games’ Betas?

          • Dirkster_Dude

Xbox Live Gold comment by you – I wouldn’t see why not. Microsoft forces you to pay for playing online regardless and that hasn’t changed since the inception of the service.

      • Neil Riley

Alpha was on old engine. Bungie said that the latest version was superior which was quite a statement as the Alpha looked really good.

  • OleanderX

Not only is it underpowered, but it’s also harder to develop for. MS seriously dropped the ball this gen.

    • Thinkaboutit

“The fact that we can use DX11 on Xbox One and the PC makes some things easier,” Michał Krzemiński says. “We do have to put a little extra effort into developing on the PlayStation 4, but it’s nothing we can’t handle and that would make development problematic.”

      • Not_true

The hardware is harder to code for due to ESRAM. Familiarity with software SDKs is different, and PS4′s SDK and hardware have both been widely praised as easy to work with.

      • Da GeeZ

Exactly… it’s EASIER to create a game on the Xbox Won. The ps4 just isn’t as easy to develop for.

        • Not_true

          Wrong.

          • Da GeeZ

            Right
Go read the quote from the Witcher 3 Developers.

          • Not_true

They are talking about familiarity with software SDKs, not the hardware itself.

Xbox One’s hardware is more difficult to code for by default because split DDR3 and ESRAM is more complicated than unified GDDR5.

          • Da GeeZ

You will see these comments more and more going into the future. That the Xbox Won was easier to create the game for. More and more devs will concentrate on their PC version 1st as the PC hardware accelerates past the power of Xbox One and the ps4. So porting and customising thier code to the Xbox Won will be easier every-time over the ps4.

            Xbox Won again.

          • Not_true

Wrong. We will not see this “more and more”.

This situation is unique to CDProject Red as they have never created a Playstation game before. Still, PS4′s SDK and hardware is so easy to work with they’re having little difficulty getting it up and running at a level of performance above the Xbox One using PS4′s stronger hardware.

          • Da GeeZ

Bahaha… wow, did you just make that nonsense up! That was brilliant, way too desperate to apologize for sony there mate.

Simple equation for sonyfanboys to remember going into the future…

PC to Xbox Won = EASIER

PC to ps4 = NOT SO EASY

          • Not_true

Porting DirectX PC code to Xbox One still requires the developers to recode their game engine to use ESRAM properly, making it more complicated.

Many developers have stated PS4 is easier to code for and has a more mature SDK. I’m stating facts, you’re pretending down is up.

          • GotNews4Ya

Just stop arguing with him. He is just trying to get you fired up.. any one with a brain and a legitimate understanding of business / technology.. knows that Microsoft made a bad choice, is hard to develop for, and is the weaker console. Blind Fan boys do not accept logic or reason. You are wasting your time.

They don’t even say they are going to Achieve 1080p at all for the Xbox One.. intact they say.. “there is still time left, so IT IS STILL POSSIBLE, not IT IS CURRENTLY 1080p in its CURRENT DEVELOPMENT STAGE. (Not speaking about the beta, but their current time into development)

Bungie has never said that it is harder to code for the PS4 than the Xbox One, but has said numerous times that coding for the PS4 is easy, and almost no hassle when porting from PC.

Many Indie Devs have been quoted to say that it is harder to learn how to transition their games from PC to the Xbox One, than it is to transfer from PC to PS4.

CD Projeckt Red has never coded for the PS4, and that article is being taken out of context by this guy, and bent to his will. I read the said article, and it states that “They are Having a few hurdles on their first time developing for the Playstation Platform, because they have never done it before, and the unfamiliarity of the console has posed a few challenges, but nothing big that would hinder development, and overall was a good experience”

Not to mention that the PS4 is rated #1 console, relating to power and ease of development. It is also #3 on technology as top 100 technological gadgets / achievements. Xbox One was further down, like 11 or something. Once again.. out classed.

Developers have made it known over and over again, that they will be developing specifically for the PS4, and porting their games to the Xbox One. The exact reverse of what was happening last generation, as the Xbox 360 was deemed the easier to develop for platform, and all PS3 ever got was lesser quality ports, because they weren’t using the full potential of the system. The cell processor was just too complex, but anyone who took the time to figure out how to use it right, made some great looking games. The PS3 was the more powerful system, but complexity, price point. and releasing a year behind the xbox 360 were its biggest faults.

I own both Xbox One and PS4.. the majority of my Multi plats are played on the PS4, and I use my Xbox One for its Exclusives. So far.. I have 20+ PS4 games, and had to buy a bigger HDD (2 TB Seagate Spinpoint M9) because of the lack of HDD space. I have 8 Xbox One Games.. and 3 of them were free with GWG..

          • cole herman

you keep saying xbox won.. are you 12? is that your little joke? i have nothing against the xbox one. but useing “won” isn’t helping your argument any

          • N2K12

Yep. and the coming with more updates / addons / capabilities, (dx12 for example) xbox one will have 1080p, 8 core multithreading, etc. Ps4 will be limited to it’s glorious ’900p’ people love to brag about. and limited to it’s *huge* *cough* 500gb storage. as sony says “we have no plans to bring external storage to ps4″

          • You are flat out wrong

You can change the internal hard drive, genius.

          • N2K12

which voids any warranty. genius. therefore, crap. utter. utter. crap.

          • N2K12

and who would want to open up a $600 console, which is not even ‘next gen’ by the most basic means, hdd capacity. xbox one uses usb3 external, more capacity, ability for external raid 0, faster load times, and no warranty voided. got all that?

          • You are flat out wrong

Open a flap, remove hard drive, insert hard drive, close flap.

Great, then you’re gonna have a dozen external hard drives in a few hours because you need to install all your games and it takes days on the Xbone.

          • You are flat out wrong

No it doesn’t. The PS4 has a user-changeable hard drive.

Look it up. And in future, get your facts straight so you don’t embarrass yourself.

          • N2K12

i did’nt embarras myself. It’s not user changable, it voids the warranty if you do it. Sony themselves said so. Keep entertaining us though retard, your name is a dead giveaway for a stinking troll.

          • Neil Riley

They are PC developers, i.e. DirectX which is why XB1 is a simple port. PS4 doesn’t use DirectX’s API’s hence the statement. Not all devs are PC developers and they say the PS4 is easy to dev for. Horses for courses.

          • N2K12

you just go around telling everyone they are wrong. the one who is wrong here is you. so fuck off retard. you are just another pathetic troll.

This is just a result of the beta really just being a demo that got carved out from the game months ago before the Xbox SDK got updated. The retail release will hit 1080p thanks to the up to day tools.

  • Dennis Crosby

So…..this will be the play by play what you guys will be in for in the next couple weeks. This week you see or be playing the Destiny beta on ps4 and ps3 next week the xbox’s version which will run 900p that same week you see comparison videos of both games and you personal wont see a difference but the comparison videos will state the ps4 version is better then the Xbox one video.playstation guys will start bashing Xbox guys. Xbox guys will say its just a beta. Then when the actually game comes out both will still look the same as the beta but both hit 1080p.

    • Not_true

The PS4 version of Destiny will have higher average framerate (less drops from 30), possibly less tearing depending on v-sync settings, and better visual effects (AA, AO, shadows, etc.), or its stronger hardware isn’t being pushed.

      • Da GeeZ

Shame it’s on the crappy psn servers.
        Xbox Live wins hands down.
Xbox Won controller is also designed for the FPS. The ps4 controllers is good for fighting games though.

        Xbox Won !!!

        • Not_true

PSN is hugely improved since PS4 launched, it’s able to handle much more traffic to go with the huge increase in sales and customers switching from Xbox 360 to PS4. PSN has a great party chat system and Destiny servers are the same quality.

PS4′s controller is good for FPSes.

You are moving goalposts to avoid admitting reality.

All 3 consoles have good games and have their pluses and minuses. It’s only fanboys (you) mindlessly trashing one or the other.

          • Da GeeZ

Apologize all you want for the crippled mess that is the psn, we all know it’s a paupers network. The Xbox Live server infrastructure is far superior to the psn.

And the ps4 controller is not comfortable for long FPS sessions, it’s just not designed for it.

As Bungie has already said, the Xbox Won version will be 1080p on release. There will be minor if any differences between the two consoles. So sonyfanboys have nothing over the Xbox Won version now… it makes me laugh so much.

          • Not_true

PSN is vastly improved, sorry if you can’t handle reality. Calling it crappy is blind hating fanboyism.

More blind fanboy hate on controllers.

It seems most console gamers are ignoring attempts to downplay PS4′s stronger hardware and buying PS4s anyway. Sorry, that’s reality.

          • Dark Lord

Okay after reading down all these comments if you can even call them that I just had to say something. First you say “Xbox WON” about a million times trying to turn this page about how the xbone version of a (BETA)<====wont be in 1080. Okay who cares? This game is gonna be great for both systems why fight about it? BTW your last comment about how PSN has nothing over XB for destiny now is incorrect PSN has exclusive alpha access, more days on the beta, exclusive weapons and armors, exclusive strike mission and crucible map, and more future exclusive things to come to PSN with each expansion pack that will only be available to PSN until at least fall 2015…. not trying to start grounds for another fan fight since you are clearly a xb fanboy just stating facts.

          • Bliss Seeker

Stop being ignorant. The PSN is not a “crippled mess” in fact from my own experience they are more similar then different; if not, the same. And as for the controller: it’s personal preference what you prefer for FPS. Go and have a look at the many of the comparison videos across the web such as:
            https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&ei=GMvHU_qGJKWd0QWSiIDoAw&url=http://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3D0EiYH_kGHA4&cd=1&ved=0CB8QuAIwAA&usg=AFQjCNEljABCjsoUKAV7kZROH-j7khSh3Q

I don’t think any xbox one gamers who have been paying attention to the development of destiny and the fairly recent announcement that destiny will be 1080p after it clearly was not, would believe the beta is going to be 1080p. The expectation that bungie scrapped the beta build for Xbox one, and made it 1080p in this short time is delusional.

      • Neil Riley

Those 180 lines would be everything if the ball was in the other court my friend. Trust me!

because every gamer plays a game to count the lines, just last week i was playing Watch_dogs and just staired at the screen counting all those lovely lines but crying because the PS4 has more than my xbox one and it just isn’t fair. Well the Alpha ran smooth as silk at 1080p 30 on PS4 so I’d expect no less for the Beta or final release. I’m sure by release Bungie will have made the necessary nip and tucks so that the XB1 version will manage the same.

  • SirAgonz

Both consoles are pretty equal, yeah one may have a better piece of hardware than the other, but the difference is minuscule. Remember when the Xbox 360 was the “Best” because it ran games better, well that was only temporary because at the time it was difficult to develop a game on the ps3. So that’s exactly what’s happening again, but instead of it happening to the Playstation again it’s happening to the Xbox One, so yeah, the PS4 is “Better” for now, but in the near future they’ll be neck to neck just like the Ps3 and the Xbox 360 were for the last decade.

  • brandon thomerson

god this conversation hurts to read, for everyone defending or bashing either console you all sound stupid, spitting out stupid “facts” about either the PS4 performance or the Xbox One performance specs when in fact it looks like all you did was google some stuff and copy and paste without actually understanding ANY of the hardware, the PS4 is powerful yes, and has the edge in certain margins over the XB1 as far as PHYSICAL HARDWARE, but the XB1 has an additional GPU onboard to take the amount of strain that the OS puts on the CPU off allowing it to put full focus into the games, which makes it like comparing a computer running onboard video for games while running an high end intel quad core with integrated graphics against a computer running an old amd phenom 2 quad core but running gtx 770 instead of the onboard… and in all fairness neither systems will ever be pushed to their all out max to really see a major difference in either one, the differences in both consoles are so slight that the small distinctions wont be noticeable simply because these aren’t water cooled overclocked gaming beasts that can maintain max resolution and framerate while staying cool and not burning up, they are economy gaming machines, and with most of the stuff going to cloud streaming by the end of the era the specs of the systems probably wont matter, the xbox one is a great system with limited games right now, and the same goes for the ps4, so stop the fanboy trolling of either system and let people enjoy the systems for the reason they got them, to play games on, while some of you made valid points you all came across like immature children who need to understand how computers and game systems function before arguing system specs

Holy crap there is ALOT of fanboyism in here. Microsoft decided to use DDR 3 for the XBone because the lower latency lends itself better to a multipurposed machine that is designed to handle media and multitasking. In that respect DDR 3 is definitely superior. HOWEVER, DDR 5 has a much fast bandwidth which lends itself to better graphics and texture streaming. Both companies have been very vocal about what their respective platforms are geared towards. Xbox one is great for a general multimedia consumption console that does a decent job on gaming as we’ll. the PS4 is mainly focused on games with media as a secondary focus. This is one of the MANY reasons why there is a resolution disparity between consoles.

I don’t see the big deal even if it doesn’t reach 1080P. Consoles still use such low res textures I can’t imagine 1080P helping that much at all. The game already looks fine, it looks like a console game. Millions still played it, so obviously 1080P means nothing to gamers who enjoy games and not stupid console/resolution wars. I don’t think Bungie should basically promise 1080P by launch but also not a big deal if they hit that or not.
